Carpet fitting

Well..... At last, I got round to fitting the sound deadening and carpet! I knew it wouldn't be a 2 minute job but I turned it into a nightmare!

I cleaned all the surfaces and stuck down the sound deadening.... All started so smooth and swiftly!

I then proceeded to fit the carpet.... All a bit fiddly and plenty of adhesive in hand. The nightmare started when I noticed a part that goes behind the pedals. For some unknown reason, I convinced myself that this should have gone in first before the carpet!..... I started peeling the carpet back up over the pedals and tried to feed the 'part' under the pedals..... After much effort and frustration, the realisation that this went under the dash - after the carpet is laid - was mixed of relief and disbelief!....

I refitted the carpet and got all the dash built back together. All in all, I'm pleased with the result! Just needs a hoover now after me rolling about in it!!
Next stop, fixing the passenger seat and cleaning the seat covers!

Also, I'm not sure if it's due to the weather but she's struggling to start..... Struggling as in she won't start! Hmmmm, I'm not going to panic just yet (cross your fingers for me though).....Keep you posted.

The start of something new

Hey,
This is my first ever blog so bear with me........

October 2011, I got my mums old VW Scirocco mk2, 1.8l, 1992 in red - well, it was green when I got it and now its cleaned, the red is more like a deep pink due to the years of fading!!

Me and my mate Gaz took a road trip from Manchester to Scotland with a trailer in tow..... Picked up the car and drove back down..... Before I got to my house, we popped into Morrisons jet wash and gave her a quick blast down, like I said, she was green due to moss from being under cover of trees and foliage. We parked it up at my friends garage, so she was under cover and had all intentions of popping over every now and again to do some work to her.... I'll mention at this point, I am no mechanic, a complete novice when it comes to anything mechanical!!

After a few months, it was obvious I needed to bring it round to my house so I can get it on my drive, then I have no excuse!!! To cut a long story short, the car had been down from the north for a year and I still couldn't get her started!! I gave in and took it to a VW specialist.....The best thing I ever did!! One turn of the key and Derek, the mechanic, suspected it to be the fuel pump, so got a hold of one from and old Golf mk1...... Low and behold, it started!!! I was elated!!!!!

I have since started to work on her. Work completed so far, New radiator, a replacement fuel flexi fuel line, a new wiper motor (but the wipers still aren't working!!). I have taken out the interior seats and carpet, cleaned the carpet and I'm pleased to say, its came up great!!!

My next job on the list is to put the interior back in after I lay some sound deadening, apparently  it gives the carpet a new feel under the foot! What do I know!! ;p

So...... This is where I'm at!!....... Feel free to comment on anything I've done, said or any advice or constructive criticism you may have!

Thanks for reading my 1st ever blog!!!

*This is her when I dropped her off at Derek's, the mechanic*

*After I ripped out all the interior*

*Just newly washed before I started any work....don't ask why, I like to work on a clean canvas I suppose!!*
